Nos encantó ser parte de la boda de Ximena y Jorge quienes eligieron uno de nuestros lugares favoritos para casarse, Hacienda Márquez, una hacienda clásica con una casona antigua que te lleva al pasado.
Ximena y Jorge decidieron verse antes de la ceremonia y tener el muy conocido, en algunos países más que en otros, ‘first look’.
Al menos en Colombia éste puede tratarse de un tema controversial, ir en contra de la tradición y tener muchos detractores, como mamás, abuelas e incluso novias.
Así que definitivamente un ‘first look’ no es para todos, pero si quien nos lee está pensando en hacerlo pero aún no está completamente seguro, tal vez esta publicación pueda ayudar a aclarar las ideas.
Ximena y Jorge se tomaron alrededor de 20 minutos del día de su matrimonio para verse antes de la ceremonia. Lo que podemos decir después de haber hecho algunos ‘first looks’ durante casi 10 años es que el momento mágico de la novia caminando hacia el altar es siempre eso, un momento mágico, con o sin haber tenido antes un ‘first look’.
Cada momento es muy diferente, el ‘first look’ es emocionante porque es la primera vez que la pareja se ve en ese día increíble y es íntimo, solo los novios y nosotros dos. Nos asegura que vamos a tener la sesión de novios sí o sí, sin importar si algo no sale como se esperaba y se retrasa la ceremonia.
Por otro lado, la entrada de la novia es un gran momento, la parte del día del sí para toda la vida. Podemos asegurar que los sentimientos están ahí cuando se ven de nuevo y la magia vuelve a suceder. También es el momento en que todos ven a la novia por primera vez y eso le da aún más emoción.
Otra ventaja que hemos encontrado de los ‘first looks’ es que tanto la novia como el novio están más relajados después de verse, lo que les permite disfrutar más cada momento de ese día.
Cuando se elige tener un ‘first look’ puede o no haber una segunda sesión de pareja ese día para usar otra luz, por ejemplo la del atardecer, como hicieron Ximena y Jorge, o una vez que termine la ceremonia ir de inmediato al coctel.
Tener o no un ‘first look’ depende completamente de cada pareja, ambas decisiones son hermosas y siempre estamos felices de sugerir ideas para cualquiera que sea la elegida.

We loved being part of Ximena and Jorge’s wedding who chose one of our favorite venues ever to get married, Hacienda Márquez, a classical spot with an antique casona that transports you to the past.
Ximena and Jorge decided to meet before the ceremony to have the very known, in some countries more than others, first look. A first look is that moment before the ceremony reserved for the bride and groom to see each other by themselves.
At least in Colombia it can be a controversial topic, go against tradition and have a lot of detractors, as moms, grandmas and even brides.
That said, definitely a first look is not for everyone but if you’re thinking of having a first look but are not completely sure yet, maybe this post will help you clear your head.
Ximena and Jorge took around 20 minutes of their day to meet just before their ceremony. What we can say having made some first looks over almost 10 years covering weddings, is that the magical moment of the bride walking down the aisle is always that, a magical moment, with or without having had a first look.
And why is that? Mainly because they’re two very different moments, the first look is exciting because it’s the first time the couple see each other on that amazing day and it’s intimate, just the couple and us.
Another great reason to do a first look is that, you know, stuff happen, and nobody can be sure that everything will be running on time, so it’s better to ensure at least the couple shooting will have daylight.
On the other hand, when the bride walks down the aisle is a huge moment, is the moment of truth, the actual part of the day the couple is going to get married and that’s a different story. We can assure you, the feelings are still there and the magic happens, again.
It’s also the time when everyone is seeing the bride for the very first time, how exciting is that!
Another advantage we’ve found of the first looks is that both the bride and groom are more relaxed after it, the first look helps them to release tension and enjoy more every moment of that day.
Likewise the couple may or may not decide to have a second session that day to use another daylight, for example the sunset -as Ximena and Jorge did- or once the ceremony is over, go right away to the coctel.
At the end of the day it’s completely up to each couple, both decisions are beautiful and we’ll be pleased to suggest ideas for any of the options chosen.
